Sample over 40 artisan cheeses from around the world! Discover amazing cheeses from the US, Italy, France, Holland, Greece, Syria, Spain, Germany and England paired with Grayhaven & South African wines. What's there to learn? Taste the difference between Greek, French, Bulgarian and Domestic Feta-style cheeses and get our take on the best ways to serve them. From soft and mellow young Gouda to dense, complex, and nutty cave-aged Gouda, savor the impact of age on a fine cheese and learn how to pair by matching or contrasting with a wine's complexity, acidity, body, style or distinctive notes. Experience the influence of brining, ash and dry-rubs (like coffee) on cheese flavor and texture. See why spending a little extra on a good Cheddar from England, Ireland or Scotland is worth every penny.
We know good cheese is EXPENSIVE so when we decide to splurge on something special, we usually go for what we know. That's what's so great about this event. It's right before the holidays and you know you want to serve your guests some fantastic cheese and wine. All of our cheese have a tasting card that tells you the name, basic info, current price per pound/ounce and where we sourced it locally in the Richmond area or online. Take a snapshot of your favorites and build your shopping list.
Be adventurous! Black truffles, white truffles, morels...are they good in cheese? (Yes!) Think you don't like Blue Cheese? We might change your mind with Grayhaven's Rivercrest Port paired with an intense smoked blue, creamy/mild brie-style blue or a classic, buttery Stilton. Even the purist will admit, sometimes infusing cheese with herbs or spices produces spectacular cheese - taste some of the best, from Derby Sage to raspberry white-Stilton and D'Affinois with Herbs. And for the brave of palate, we'll venture in to some award-winning wash-rind cheeses- C'est magnifique! Get great info from our staff of passionate cheese lovers, from how cheese is made to how to pair like a pro. You'll taste the influence of wine style, body, acidity and variety with different cheese styles, tastes and textures.
